It’s hard to believe that the Verde Valley Wine Festival is now in its fifth year. We started this event as a way to highlight all the incredible local flavor that Arizona has to offer. We weren’t really sure how the community would respond. But each year, our audience has grown larger, interest from the winemaking and business communities has increased, and word is spreading all over the state about our home-grown Festival! It has become one of the most anticipated local festivals of the year.
On Saturday, May 9, we will once again bring together an estimated 20 winemakers from the Verde Valley, Sonoita, and Willcox winemaking regions. They will be joined by local craft breweries, distilleries, culinary vendors and food trucks, local businesses, artists and musicians. Festival-goers will have an opportunity to taste, learn about, and experience the unique offerings of the Grand Canyon state’s wine industry while surrounded by the charming, historic Town of Clarkdale.
Giving back and growing the winemaking economy
Each year, a portion of the proceeds from the Verde Valley Wine Festival supports local nonprofit organizations. This year, the event will support the Arizona Vignerons Alliance and Arizona Wine Growers Association. We feel very strongly about supporting organizations that help grow the state’s winemaking economy, and both of these organizations are doing just that. The Arizona Vignerons Alliance aims to ensure the quality and authenticity of Arizona wine and improve grape growing and winemaking across the state. The Arizona Wine Growers Association advocates for growth, change, and opportunities to strengthen all aspects of wine growing, making, selling, and drinking.
